Indésirable à la Fiorentina où il n'a joué aucun match depuis le début de la saison, Pape Waigo Ndiaye, intéresse fortement le Chievo. Le président du club a déclaré suivre de très près l'évolution de l'international sénégalais.
Sartori has been sporting director for the Flying Donkeys since 1992 and has been behind the club's successful approaches for Bernardo Corradi, Simone Perrotta and Sergio Pellissier. The director has recently turned his hungry glare upon a player who was at the centre of various transfer rumours in the summer - Papa Waigo.
The player has been in demand all over Europe, with enquiries coming in from around the continent regarding Papa Waigo's availability for transfer. The most recent interest in the player came from Ligue 1, a competition in which many Senegalese players find their European footing. Strangely, though, Papa Waigo has never played in the French league, as he began his European career in Serie A with Verona and has circulated in the Italian league ever since.
Three clubs in Italy - Reggina, Lecce and Chievo – have been vying for the player's services all summer. When the transfer window closed it was then assumed that the player would certainly leave during the January window.
Indeed, Sartori has now resumed discussions about the player's future, saying, “Papa Waigo has always interested us, even during his time at Verona.
“Then he went to Cesena, then Genoa and finally Fiorentina, but we never stopped following his progress. If we needed to bring players in during the summer, he would certainly be amongst the players that we would follow very attentively.”
