Henri Camara has started pre-season training with Wolves this morning and has
pledged to honour his contract at Molineux.
The Senegalese international, who spent last season on loan at Celtic and
Southampton, reported back to the club yesterday afternoon for what was
described as a 'constructive' meeting about his future at Wolves with chief
executive Jez Moxey and manager Glenn Hoddle.
The 28 year old said he still wants to play in the top flight and Wolves are
prepared to let him go if they receive an acceptable offer to buy the player.
However, in the meantime, Camara is set to return to training and play an active
part in preparations for the coming campaign.
Moxey says: "Henri has proved himself a quality player who is well capable of
scoring goals in the Premier League. We must therefore receive fair market value
for him if he is to leave us. If we receive such an offer - and to date we have
not - then we will sell him and the proceeds will give the manager more options.
Alternatively, if no acceptable offer materialises and Henri stays, then we have
a very good player to add to the squad that finished last season so strongly."
Camara is prepared to take a similar view of the situation and has expressed his
regret at the events of 12 months ago when he asked for a transfer from Wolves
following relegation from the top flight. He says: "I never had a problem with
Wolves, I just desperately wanted to keep playing at the highest level. I am
sorry for the upset that followed.
"I never intended to cause an offence to the supporters who voted me their
Player of the Year (2003/04).
"I am starting training today and will work hard and see what happens."
Hoddle, who will be working with Camara for the first time this morning, said
the player would be gradually integrated into the squad.
"Henri hasn't done anything since playing for Senegal on 18th June so, like Seyi
George Olofinjana, who re-joined us at the beginning of this week, he will need
to build up again gradually. But I'm looking forward to seeing him in action."
The player will not be involved in either of this weekend's games at Wycombe
tonight and at Kidderminster tomorrow afternoon.
